Design Excellence↗ - We’ve set the bar high. We’re dedicated to creating environments where people live happier, healthier lives. To working collaboratively with our clients—engaging, listening, questioning—until, together, we exceed expectations. This is how we define design excellence.

Diversity and Inclusion↗ - Creative synergy happens when people from different walks of life collaborate on equal footing. When underrepresented voices are heard—and valued.

We’re on a mission to diversify the design profession and create a more just, equitable, and inclusive world. Because when it comes to excellence in design, there’s no such thing as one-size-fits-all.

Well-Being↗ - Design that supports the human body, mind, and spirit. Health is about so much more than physical fitness, dietary habits, or disease prevention. It’s about how a person functions at all levels—physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. It’s about the brain’s and body’s response to the physical environment, and how that response influences a person’s quality of life.

Research↗ - Innovation starts with inquiry. In our never-ending quest for knowledge, we push limits, take risks, investigate, and discover. We constantly ask ourselves, “What if?” “What’s next?” This makes our ideas clearer, our designs smarter, our teams happier, and our clients more satisfied.

Social Purpose↗ - Giving back so others can move forward. Our Social Purpose program gives us the chance to contribute to our communities in more personal ways. We provide pro bono professional services to nonprofits for whom such services would otherwise be out of reach. Our projects address human needs like affordable housing, childcare, healthcare, and education. At the same time, we also like to roll up our sleeves and get involved in hands-on volunteer work. We serve meals at food pantries, organize coat drives, participate in community gardening, and lead fundraisers, to name a few activities. Whether it’s design or “sweat equity,” we’re inspired by the power of human connection.

Sustainability↗ - Design that respects and restores our environment. We know sustainability means different things to different people. Whether it’s energy efficiency that matters most to our clients, or healthy indoor air and nontoxic materials—we’ve got all of it covered. Sustainable design is built into our practice. One of the things we’re most proud of is that, for decades, we’ve led the AEC industry toward exceptional environmental performance. And this leadership has caused a sea change in the way places and spaces are designed and constructed all around the world. Our goal? To keep lighting the way forward.

Resilience - Designing to withstand the unpredictable. We help communities prepare for—and protect themselves from—natural and man-made shocks like hurricanes, super storms, droughts, sea-level rise, heat waves, wildfires, and earthquakes. Even social volatility and economic stress. Places that are designed, planned, and organized for resilience have a significantly greater chance of weathering physical trauma and social provocations. They’re also much more likely to regenerate and prosper afterward.

We're proud to lead our industry by example.
